Whether you're looking to view Continuous Contract data (have the same symbol [CLc1] always track the "Front Month" of a specific security) from Reuters, DTN, S&P ComStock, Bridge, or data directly from the exchanges themselves, WorldWatch® Insight will retrieve and display the underlying data quickly, accurately and most importantly, all with the same symbol commands. DataCode provides this functionality because there are data feeds on the market that do not have a symbol for a Continuous Contract. For example, for S&P ComStock data, DataCode uses the symbol "CLc1" to request the underlying "front month" monthly contract for Crude Oil - "CLc2" for the second month out, etc. No longer will users have to remember what contract is the front month contract. By always using the "Root" symbol followed by a lower-case "c", then the number indicating how many months out (i.e. "CLc2" will retrieve the Continuous Contract for Crude Oil - 2 months out.) users can have a virtually maintenance free workstation application. Why use Continuous Contracts? An added benefit - Should you decide to switch data vendors, you do not have to re-learn new symbol codes for the new data feed. Just type the same symbol ("CLc1:") and hit the Enter key (WorldWatch® Insight will track this symbol across multiple data vendor supplied feeds). This is a very useful feature in larger trading firms, as they like to have more than one data source available at any given time. Should they experience an outage from any particular data provider, they can seamlessly source the alternative data source and continue as before. |
